KIT INCLUDES:

• 3 different styles of 24 kt. gold plated brass end pieces

• 2-1/4Ó long, 7mm brass tubes

• Black hanging rope

REQUIRED ACCESSORIES:

• 7mm, long mandrel

• 2 each ÒSlimlineÓ bushings or any PSI Pen bushings

• 7mm drill bit, Item # PK-7MM

• 7mm barrel trimmer , Item # PK-TRIM (optional)

NOTE: This project is a free hand turning. Make it to your own design to be used as a tree ornament or a

unique necklace. The bushings are used only to hold the blank on the mandrel while turning.

PREPARING THE WOOD:

• Use wide square blanks slightly larger than the size of your design.

• Cut the length to the size of the brass tube plus 1/16Ó for squaring off the ends.

• Drill a 7mm hole, lengthwise, through the blanks.

• Spread glue over the tube.

• insert into the hole with a twisting motion to spread the glue evenly inside.

• Center the tube lengthwise inside the blank.

• When the glue dries, square the ends of the blank. Use a 7mm barrel trimmer or a belt/disc

Sander. Take the wood down, flush with the ends of the brass tube.

TURNING THE BLANK:

• Place a few spacer bushings on the mandrel.

• Next place the wood blank and follow with additional bushings to close the remaining space.

• Screw on the lock nut and tighten the tailstock/live center snug against the mandrel.

• Turn the blank to the design of your choice. (Tree ornament templates Item # TPLO5 are available to

use with the PSI Lathe Duplicator, to create 3 pre-designed profiles).

• Sand the wood, apply polish and wax. Bring to a high gloss. Remove turned object from lathe.

ASSEMBLY:

• To assemble the parts, use a vice or a clamping instrument with wooden or soft jaws.

• Press the end pieces into the open ends of the brass tube glued inside the barrel.

• Insert the rope into the hole, adjust for size, and tie a knot.
