The Mayo 3+2 Physician Assistant Program is unique because applications are geared toward high school seniors (who are attending Saint Mary’s
University of Minnesota or the University of Minnesota Rochester) who are interested in an accelerated track to the PA profession. These students
attend their respective undergraduate college for the first three years of the traditional four years of college. In the fourth year of undergrad,
students transition to their first year of didactic year at Mayo in Rochester. Once done with three years of undergrad and two years of PA school,
students will graduate with a Bachelor’s degree from their respective college, as well as a Master’s degree in PA studies from Mayo Clinic.
Applications are due typically around the end of June each year, with interviews starting near the end of September of the same year. After
interviews, around 25 interviewees are offered spots in the cohort for that year. Those outside of Saint Mary’s and the University of Minnesota
Rochester will have the opportunity to apply to the program if there are less than 25 students (combination of Saint Mary’s and the University of
Minnesota Rochester) per class. These applications take place the year before the cohort would enter their didactic year at Mayo Clinic in the PA
Program.
