Dear Expectant Mother,
Wow, where to start?! Here you are reading all these letters while looking at portfolios trying to
decide who and if someone else is good enough to parent your child. You may even still be
undecided about whether adoption is the right choice. This must be a very difficult and confusing
time so thank you for giving us the opportunity to share a little about us and who we are.
Robert (Bobby), and I have been married for 8 incredible, and at some times, testing years. We met
while I was finishing my last two years of college in San Diego and after getting married we settled
down in Anchorage. We decided to wait to have children in order to save up money and finish
remodeling a mid-century home we bought soon after. As you are experiencing now, life doesn’t
always go as planned. Even though we felt as ready as could be, we soon discovered getting
pregnant wasn’t going to be easy for us, despite being physically healthy. Our past 3 years were
spent at multiple doctor’s offices who prescribed virtually every fertility treatment available. We
stopped short of invitro because of various concerns in the process, and we now believe God’s
answer to our prayer for a child is through the wonderful
gift of adoption.
Bobby works as a carpenter and real estate broker at our
family company where he has held practically every
position since he started there 15 years ago. Bobby grew up
in Northern Minnesota where he focused on sports and
outdoor activities, and where his family still lives today.
Although his adopted father passed recently after a long
battle with cancer, Bobbys Mom continues to be a
wonderful, faithful woman, and has since moved in with
his sister, her husband and their two boys. She hopes to
visit us on a regular basis now as we also visit them often.
As for myself, I also worked for the family company for 6 years and recently became a residential
Realtor in order to have a flexible schedule to raise a child. I grew up in Alaska on an alpaca farm
where both my parents still live. They have a beautiful home on a lake, about a 1.5 hour drive from
Anchorage or a 15 minute float plane flight. My brother and sister-in-law live nearby and we visit
often for family dinners, barge rides, swimming, skiing and snowmachining. My Dad is a kid at
heart and installed a zip line and Frisbee golf course for entertainment. He is also a float plane pilot
and takes us on flying adventures around the state. They cannot wait to be grandparents!
Our pastor and his wife in the church we attend adopted 3 of their 4 children and have been a great
encouragement to us that this is the right path. Catholic Social Services has also been instrumental in
educating us on the benefits of open adoptions so that you are involved in your child’s life as they
grow at whatever level is comfortable to you.
Thank you for considering us to become parents for your child. We are truly grateful for you despite
the difficulty of the situation, and have been praying for your decision to work out for the bes t of all
involved. We know God has a perfect plan and we are watching it all unfold.
With love and gratitude, Robert and Aimee
