Glastonbury Abbey is an independent charity that relies
almost entirely on admission tickets/sales for the maintenance
and conservation of the ruins and grounds. Please gift aid
where possible and your donations are most welcome.

Car Parking
The abbey maintains a pay and display car park in Silver Street
which is conveniently located behind the high street. There
are several pay and display car parks throughout Glastonbury.
There is a coach park at Northload Street (west).
Abbey Opening Hours
Please check the abbey website or social media for opening
times prior to visiting. Last entry is 45 minutes prior to closing.

By the end of the Anglo-Saxon period Glastonbury Abbey was
the richest monastery in England and second only to
Westminster at the close of the Middle Ages.
One of the finest medieval kitchens in Europe, the 14th century
Abbot’s Kitchen is an octagonal building with a fireplace at
each corner and was part of the opulent abbot’s house.
The medieval abbey achieved legendary status as the burial place
of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere following the monks’ claim
to have found their bones here in 1191.
Our museum contains some
important artefacts from the
abbey’s 1500 year history.
